Old song friday with a new twist. That’s what today is. This is my song “Gray”, but it’s a completely different version of it. This version is sung lower and is accompanied only by acoustic guitar and Ben Britz on piano. Like it? Love it? Ok, download it here (second page of downloads). Enjoy!

Thank you so much!!! Everyone should follow Head Under Water.
So I was tipped off by someone about a musician by the name of Elizabeth Seward (http://elizabethseward.tumblr.com/) on Tumblr that releases a brand new song every Monday. Which to me is an extremely ambitious project, so if you think that’s rad too you can recommend her as a Musician or under the Music category for the directory.
Happy Monday.
I have been waiting to release this song for what feels like forever but is actually only about a year. I wrote this song about a year ago and it is creepy. You’ll see through the lyrics. I tried it out at a show in Germany, continued to play it at some other random shows, and dared to record it alongside Ben Britz and Gary Leyder with the help of engineer, Aaron Jacobsen, back in the fall. I finally got all the tracks together and here it is! Enjoy. It’s up for free download right now here.
CAN YOU HEAR ME?
When I was a little child, we’d pack the car
And we’d drive to Alabama
Especially when my grandma was sick
But my mama cursed her name and said
“She’s a witch and an alcoholic”
But she was the one with the Indian blood
With the dark hair in a family fair
She was the one who saw to the end
Of her own father’s life
And he haunted her every single night
WELL CAN YOU HEAR ME?
AM I COMING THROUGH?
ALL THEM YEARS
DID THEY EVER HEAR YOU?
CAN YOU SEE ME?
THEY SAY I HAVE YOUR EYES
AND IF I DO, WILL I BE HAUNTED AT NIGHT LIKE YOU?
So we put her in an old black hearse
And we left her there in southern dirt
No I will not say that I was cursed
But I was the one to see her again first
Maybe cause I was the one who lost the faith
She’ll talk to me cause I’ll listen to what she has to say
Hey there,
The best advice I can give you is to start playing open mics. They helped me a lot along the way. When you’re ready, record some songs, even if low-fi, and put them online (Myspace, Facebook, Last.fm, Tumblr, etc.) and start directing your fans from the shows, friends, and anyone else interested to those sites. Good luck!
Hi! As you’re reading this, I’m on a cruise. This song is one I wrote probably 2-3 years ago at this point, BUT it has never been released or played in public. Whooo for new/old releases! Songs that never would have had a life but now, thanks to this Tumblr, will see the light of day…or…err…the internet.
Tune into the
Hum of the fan
It’s trying to tell you to
Never speak again
Keep yourself quiet and closed, you’re just an
Insomniac driving coast to coast..to coast
Night is when it comes to me
Guides me through what I don’t see it
Just never ceases to amaze me now
Unbutton your
Shirt and come lay with me
Tell me,
Have you thought this through? my
Unabated argument has been asking you
Really? because I thought that you
Told me you were telling the truth
So what’s the verdict you have prepared
He who casts all the first stones and no I haven’t
Enjoyed this time we’ve shared, I’ve spent it
Reminding myself that I’m alone and isn’t
Everybody
Isn’t everybody sure they’re
Not gonna die that way, they’ll be
Married with kids with kids on the way
You’re not good company, but you’re not bad
Either and when
The nights have grown long what better
Entertainment than a liar
Reasoning with the selves they create
Navigating through the black smoke
Allieviating our fears that they may
Live again then choke but how
Foolish of us to believe that the blind could ever
Really again see, stay in the dark it’s
Easy, don’t leave your stage, it’s
Easy, don’t show your face, baby, your over
Zealous questions are making me so sleepy, it’s
Easy, It’s easy

Hi! My song for this week is called Does This Make You Want To Sing, featuring Mr. Ben Britz on piano. The lyrics are below. Listen to it above and download it here for FREE if you like it!
DOES THIS MAKE YOU WANT TO SING?
This is too much, cycling in my
Heart’s pit
I think I taste love, this
Silence is redolent
Loose leaves color and fall
Over this decaying ache
Violet ruffles cover all
Each storm past I could not take
Does this make you want to sing?
Move over, seething doubt
Unless you can accept your fate
Spit your hesitations out or
Take them with you to the grave
Before I hand you this heart on a platter
Just tell me with one thing
Are you convinced this really matters?
Does this make you want to sing?
Recount for me our warning signs
Elated, I listen in… with
Alacrity, so divine, I
Might call it religion.
